WOW I am so over the moon excited to share my amazing amazing news that I get to design for Spellbinders for another year. It has been such a wonderful year of learning that I have cherished so so much, seeing my abilities grow beyond my belief. It has gone WAY to quickly, so to be chosen to stay on and continue on this journey I can feel nothing but blessed to be one of the 10 designers working along side Spellbinders blog team who ALWAYS blow me away with each and every creation they make.
Over the next week Spellbinders are introducing the Design team one person a day. All I can say is oh my goodness what a line up of amazing designers that I get to work with, be inspired by and get to know a whole lot better. They are amazing each and every one of them.
Yesterday, the first designer was announced - Teresa Horner. Not only is she the sweetest person you could meet, she is an amazingly talented artist that crosses all facets in our industry, she has such a beautiful style and I was fortunate to get to know her very well sharing a room last year at the retreat in Arizona in the US where we were spoilt with LOTS of fun, learning, product and tools, setting us up for an amazing year ahead. Today I wanted to share with you a layout I created that really came to life with Spellbinders dies and my favourite Faber-Castell mediums. I never thought I would have used these dies on a boy layout, but just seemed perfect for the feel I was going for. It is funny now as the dies used on this layout are some of my all time favourites! I also created this layout while travelling in our caravan on summer holidays, and another reason why I LOVE my Spellbinders dies so so much, they give me embellishments when all I have on hand is paper to make them with!

Mixed Media Fun Scrapbook layout
In this class we will be creating a mixed media layout full of layers and using some fun products including Faber-Castell Gelatos, Whipped spackle, Tinby Designs Metallic melts and more! I will assist you in incorporating the right colours for you photo which does not matter about it's orientation and while I have used a 6 x 4 photo, a 5 x 7 photo would look divine too!

In this class you will learn lots of mixed media techniques using products such as gel medium/decopage/modge podge, heavy bodied acrylic paint, Faber-Castell Gelatos, Whipped Spackle and transfer techniques to name a few. You incorporate the colours you wish onto this one and there will be a few different examples for inspiration. This is a free-style class where you get to drive your learning as well!

You can even choose the beautiful MDF decorative window frame to finish off and feature your beautiful Art Piece.

Well how seriously exciting is this! Today I am so honoured to be part of Spellbinders® Summer Sneak Peek and Giveaway sharing with you today's projects along with Linda Lucas. I created two projects with the the new Glass Effects and Conversation bubble 4 die sets.
These die sets are seriously so much fun and so so versatile! I hope you find that as you get your hot little hands on them as I did! I am going to show you a number of different ways I have used them today (I have so many more! But we'll wait for another blog post for that)
Given the strong trendy and modern feel these dies I really wanted to create something with that feel. The die is really strongly suited to cards as such a fantastic background as you can see above, but I wanted to show you just how lovely it can be on a layout as well!

So I have already shown you 2 ways that the new Glass effects Die can be used, and here is a third along with another couple of uses for the conversation bubble 4! Don't you thing that clouds make the cutest ice-creams! I do, and I especially love this one with the stitching, and conversation pointer looking as though the ice-cream is dripping down the cone.
I SCREAM - YOU SCREAM -
WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE-CREAM!!
Now for for a little tutorial to help you create your own!
TUTORIAL:
Create a card base from white cardstock folded in half to 6 x 7"
Cut/emboss using the Spellbinders Grand Callibur machine the 5 x 7 Matting Basics B #7 Die from some pattern paper, and layer onto the card base
Next, using the frame of the Glass effects die set, cut/emboss with some contrasting pattern paper add some twine with a bow and and layer onto the above cardstock as pictured.
To create the cone, simply EMBOSS only the glass effects die with some Kraft cardstock then cut it as big as you wish with some scissors. Add this to the cards as pictured with some foam squares underneath
Cut/emboss the larger conversation bubble from pink cardstock and embellish with some enamel dots, and layer this with some additional foam onto the Ice-cream cone
Cut/emboss the smaller of the conversation bubbles from white cardstock and using the Spellbinders Tool'n One, poke out the stitching de-bossed areas
FLIP OVER the white conversation bubble and use it to trace the shape onto some pink cardstock. Cut this shape out slightly larger than the line using it as a guide
Layer the white and pink Conversation bubbles and add your stamped sentiment and add this to your card with some foam squares.
So today's post is one that is a little difference and has taken me a little long than it was meant to, to get up live, but I'm always a it of a better late than never person so here it is!

Ok, so in this blog hop you get to know a little more about me (well I hope :D)
What am I working on at the moment: Ok, so unfortunately I can't show any pictures but I am playing with the new summer release CHA for Spellbinders. Oh there is so many amazing dies being released, I think the hardest part is not being able to share!
I have also just finished a layout and video for The Crafter's workshop that I CAN share as it has just gone live on the blog :D
I had lots of fun creating this layout and I even have video to share on how I created the background for this layout.

How long does it take to create a layout:
This depends so much on what I decide to create but mainly a deadline. I work strongly to my deadlines and I definitely work best under pressure. Last week I saw this having just 50 minutes in which to create a layout, photograph, edit the picture, add it to a blog post and then link it to get it in on time for a challenge. I actually had not bother weather it won or not, for me it is more my own silly goals to see if I could get it done. I'm funny like that, love a challenge and this one I set myself. It was funny as all I had done was the stencilled background and although I was unwell that day I kept looking at it thinking... I really just want to get that last one done, it ate at me so I pushed myself and got it done.
On the other side a layout can take me weeks as well through procrastinating!
My Favourite things to create with:
Oh this would be so easy as you see all of these on most layouts I create!
Faber-Castell Gelatos, The Crafters workshop stencils (reverse chickenwire probably my most used) and Spellbinders dies or other products... Gold Majesty circles still one of my ultimate favs!
oh and I must add my Metallic melts that I am having so much fun with lately and Faber-Castell whipped spackle to that list as I just adore it as the ultimate texture paste.
How does my creating process work -
If I am creating a layout for myself with not having to go anywhere it would usually start with an idea of something I would like to try or a photo that is inspiring the process. Then I work out what I might like to use and set about creating a little
How do I become and stay inspired - usually this is through new products that I get a chance to have a play with as I don't really get enough time to surf for inspiration, but if I'm really stuck I look though my ideas book for something I have jotted down that I would like to try. When I have had some time to watch some videos or surf blogs I get inspired as well.
What is my signature style
I can't say I have a stand out style, other than my work generally has a more modern feel. Most of the time it is mixed media based but sometimes clean and simple too. I do love to layer but with more than just the paper, with the background as well. I am also well known for my more masculine layouts having only boys.

Ok, so I couldn't resist finishing off this layout despite having a sore head... crafting is so relaxing though!
Love this challenge by Alz as I don't do flowers all that often... well lately a little, but as I have boys and my own little rule of not putting flowers on a solely boy layout, they don't go on lots of my layouts ;) But can I say... this was FUN!!!
Here is my take of using 5 or more flowers - so easy rummaging through the flowers stash! At 11:10pm I only had the teal stencilling done.. and needed to pull it out FAST if I was to make it by midnight lol There are SO MANY of my favourites on here including my all time favourite Glimmermist 'crushed shells' and Spellbinders Majesty Circles die and The Crafter's workshop Brocade stencil... helps to go to your favs when you want to do something quickly I think! I also finished of the page with some of my favourite little embellishments including flower sequins, Want 2 Scrap Pearls in the centre as well as pearl flourishes and divine flowers from Prima, Kaisercraft and Manor House.
I'll update some detail pics shortly :)
ok, so this is the last one I got in... didn't let me link up at 5 mins to... but posted in FB instead :)
It was honestly so much fun!
only one challenge left to do... might do that in a couple of days.... 7 layouts in just over 24 hours, while looking after the boys, cooking dinner, cleaning up, and a trip to the library - lucky the challenges were so awesome that they all came together so easily... but now... hmmm might need a break :D
Well I hoped to get the last two I'm missing done, but the head is telling me otherwise, so here is my last challenge take :) I will do those others, but it will have to be for another night I think!
How much fun is this technique! I decided to add more colours with the same technique drawing on the colours of the ice-cream and my boy's t-shirt. I love that I was able to match that colour and make it look like the ice-cream mess was all over my page, as to my surprise that day... he didn't wear any on this t-shirt!
I used a mixture of acrylic paint and watercolour paints in teal, light and dark blue and white as well. I also teamed it up with Tinby Designs Metallic melts added with a opaque white stazon re-inker and 'Glistening snow' colour. love how those circles came!
Ok, so that is the last of my take on the challenges.... would have loved to finish my last that I had just started before dinner, but think I'll take an opportunity for some R & R. Night sweet readers! Hope you have enjoyed my shares today!
Blue and yellow would have to be one of my favourite combinations - bring and fun and contrasting with the beautiful blue hues - what's not to love?
For this one I decided to create this layout as well I am part of a different kind of blog hop at the moment that the beautiful Tiff Firth nominated me for, only I've been busy today and yesterday doing challenge layouts - me bad! So my post will have to go live tomorrow when I can sit down and do it. That and because I have had a migraine today and tried to stay away from the computer, but well these posts have to go up tonight so I'm soldiering thorough. ANYWAY enough blubber about me... here is my take on the colour pallet. I had so much fun with Crafter's workshop stencils on this one, some Imagine Crafts Fireworks sprays, distress inks, gelatos, whipped spackle, flowers and something I don't use too often bling! oh and some enamel dots of course!
OOPS! nearly forgot the detail pics! Need to let you get up close :)
