Shimmerz Aqua Huez the star of this background

So I have been creating while away on our summer holiday and I have a new Scrapbook page up on the Shimmerz blog. I created my page using Shimmerz Aqua Huez and teamed it up with paper and embellishments from Coco Vanilla Studio.

Head on over for all the details HERE

I created a short video showing the process so you can see how the background comes together. Remember you can match as little or as many colours as needed to compliment your papers.  Just click on the video below to watch.

Here are some more pics of my scrapbook page so you can get up close with the colorful goodness!

Till next time

Like what I have used and would like to get your hands on some?  See below:

Creating while travelling

Are you like me and you can do anything in the car, read a novel, work on the computer, write and even papercraft?  Well if you are you'll be interested in this post.. and well if not you might still enjoy a show on some minimal supplies you can take to get creative on a journey (maybe more so when you reach your destination in that case!

I created this video today after we arrived at camp.  We had a long journey in the car so I took some supplies to be able to get creative.  While I can't yet show the pages I worked on, I can take you through what I found useful to take and well some things that just weren't very thought out (she says with a slightly embarrassed look and smile on her face)

Check out the video.  Hope you enjoy it!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!  I'm off to finish my scrapbooking pages I planned out today!

CHA sneak peeks with RGs Silver and Gold Collection

Hey Everyone, I'm back today with an exciting share.  Today I am part of a blog hop to celebrate the new releases by RG.  These new collections are so much fun to create with and today I’m going to be using the new ‘Silver and Gold’ collection.

I’m away at the moment on our Summer holiday so I was a little limited by what I had with me to use from the collection, so I decided so focus on the beautiful dies and how you don’t need a great deal more to still create a beautiful page as well as how versatile they are.

For my project I used the following:

RG - Richard Garay

'Silver and Gold' Full Bloom Die Set
'Silver and Gold' Gold Blooms Set
'Silver and Gold' Doiley Burst set
'Silver and Gold' Marigold set

Fun Stampers Journey

Journey Watercolor pencils - 0015, 0017, 0027 & 0029
Journey Gesso
Journey sequin trim in yellow
Journey White cardstock 12 x 12"

So I set my self up outside, away from where we were camping. Seeing I forgot to take some water - sort of an important ingredient for working with watercolours... I had to drink my wine a little quicker than planned!  So I had my white cardstock and watercolour pencils and I was ready to go.

I started by adding the pencil direct to my cardstock.

Next I took the paint brush in the tin and added some water to activate the watercolour in the pencil added to my page.

Once this was softened I then used a plastic bag to make my edges a little more rustic by placing it in the still wet watercolour and then stamping down on the edges.

After looking at the page at this stage, I wanted to add a little texture into the page but not too much.

I decided on a little Gesso added using the back of a paint brush.  I added it in pretty randomly breaking up the watercolor and adding a little texture.

I added the die cuts in white cardstock layered as shown.  Given the design the break up the watercolour so well.  I also added a little sparkle in with the sequin trim.

Here are some more pictures so you can get up a little closer.

New Year's inspiration for getting organised

Happy New Year!  Today I'm here to share with you a fun planner project.  So the new year is here, and I'm getting myself organised!  I would like to keep myself inspired and want to have some little prompts and words of focus for the year ahead.  Although I haven't yet created my 'wish list' - still thinking on those, my card is ready to go and i'll add some wishes using a typewriter and then cut them into strips before adding to the card.

I created it to be able to be affixed to any part of the planner with a bulldog clip.  This will enable it to move with the dates and always be a great visual memory enabling me to keep focus on achieving those 'wishes'

To create the background on my card which you could use this technique on any project you desire... maybe a scrapbook page or a card or even an Art Journal page.

I started out with the die and some Shimmerz Aqua huez.  I took 2 pieces of white cardstock and die cut one, the other forming the base of my card.

I then used the die cut as a stencil an painted the colour through onto the card with the Little Boy Blue at the top and the Grey Matter at the bottom, blending them in the middle.

Doing this I found I had color on my die cut, I added a little more and then stamped that onto some cardstock for another project

As you can see it quickly came together!  Then adhering all the elements together with the following paper and embellishments it came together rather quickly.

I also added an additional piece of the pattern paper as a base for the white cardstock cutting it slightly larger to achieve a decorative boarder around the card.  You can check out how the decorative side of the card came together over on the 'Ruby Rock-It' blog HERE
